Clearing Brush in Crest Canyon

On Sunday, March 22, 2009, volunteers thinned native vegetation and removed invasive species from the fire safety buffer zone along residences.  Correct thinning maintains native habitat for wildlife and is especially critical in Crest Canyon which is MSCP (Multiple Species Conservation Program) land and supports the federally-threatened California gnatcatcher.
